The International Republican Institute (IRI) is seeking a chief of party for a multi-year program focused on identifying and countering disinformation and misinformation. Local Nationals and expatriates with residency status and Georgian work authorization highly encouraged to apply.
Position Requirements
· Minimum 10 years of experience working in countering misinformation, media strengthening, or civil society strengthening or related field in the region.
· Demonstrated subject matter expertise and a thorough understanding misinformation, disinformation and the role of information in the formation and dynamics of values, beliefs, or identities and the role of researchers, activists, private sector, and policy makers in supporting and protecting a country’s information space.
· Successful track record in supervising, designing, managing, and implementing donor-funded technical assistance projects focused on the information space and civil society.
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate a broad and diverse set of actors and maintain effective working relationships with media partners, CSOs, members of academia, legislators, government officials, bilateral donors, as well as in-country and foreign experts.
· Deep understanding of the political and economic situation in Georgia and the broader Caucus and Eurasia region.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and work on a multi-partner team.
· Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with senior officials in government, local government, civic leaders, business people, and international donors
· Substantial project management experience (or equivalent leadership position).
· Must have professional level English ability, both written and oral; Georgian or Russian skills preferred.
· Experience in Georgia and/or in the Europe and Eurasia region will be an advantage but is not required.
· Master’s or higher degree in Political Science, International Studies, or other relevant field.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
· Provide overall program leadership, management, and technical direction
· Ensure that all assistance is technically sound, appropriate for the regional context, and compliant with local laws and regulations
· Serve as the program’s key liaison with project stakeholders and partners, including local and national level government, civil society partners.
· Serve as primary liaison between IRI and USAID.
· Manage and supervise the work of program personnel and subcontractors.
· Lead the creation and implementation of a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
· Oversee work planning, performance management, donor reporting, and strategic communications
· Other duties as assigned.
