Chemonics seeks an international trade fair expert for the USAID Zrda Activity in Georgia (Zrda). The activity is a five-year program designed to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in target regions by strengthening micro- , small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); increasing the productivity of rural households; supporting market linkages between producers and buyers; and promoting local economic development by establishing and strengthening networks. Zrda will create jobs and increase sales for MSMEs and incomes for households, bolstering the resilience and livelihoods of target communities. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world .
Responsibilities include:
- Develop training for stakeholders, including tour companies and representatives of targeted regions, to explore the regions’ tourism potential, properly market tour products (leaflets, brochures, or other materials), provide comprehensive plans for participation at exhibitions, attract customers, and facilitate sales of tour products
- Support stakeholders in establishing and networking with potential partners before exhibitions, gathering information on potential products, planning visits at exhibitions to find new partners, selling tour-products, and concluding new contracts
- Perform site visits and work closely with stakeholders to market tour products and develop a promotion strategy
- Select exhibitions and approve the designs, layouts, cost estimates, and construction of corner and trade-show displays
- Participate with stakeholders in the first trade fair and interact with customers to support and promote new partnership opportunities
Qualifications:
- Experience with markets in the Commonwealth of Independent States, Caucasus, and Eastern Europe preferred
- At least five years of experience of providing consulting services on developing and marketing tour products and promoting them at exhibitions and trade fairs
- A strong collection of contacts with prominent roles in the tourism industry, including exhibition organizers, especially in the anticipated target markets of the Commonwealth of Independent States (particularly in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Russia), Poland, Baltic countries, and other countries that may be relevant
- Experience building market linkages
- Extensive experience selecting, planning, and participating in exhibitions
- Experience selling tour products at exhibitions
- Readiness to travel to the field and work closely with local tourism actors
- Experience developing and delivering training to regional stakeholders, including tour companies and regional municipality representatives, in marketing and promoting regional tour products
- Record of delivering tangible results, especially through exhibitions (e.g., finding partners, concluding contracts, and increasing visitors)
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
